Book 2 in the Sweetwater Peak Series

Old haunts, new feelings.

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Rebel Blue Ranch series returns to the haunted town of Sweetwater Peak for another love story, this one featuring an antique shop owner and a farmer who fake a relationship to save their legacies…but will they be able to fool the ghosts of their past?

Clarke Cartwright probably needed to get out more. She just had a lot to do. Running Toade’s Antiques was no small feat, especially considering that the roof was in shambles and half her merchandise was unsellable. But dealing with that felt easier than her other two options: third-wheeling with her best friend…again, or chatting it up with the ghost of her childhood crush’s father, who just can’t seem to leave her alone.

Leith Wilkes has spent his life preparing to take over his family's farm. Well, he’s actually spent most of his life flirting, but now he’s ready to buckle down, which has nothing to do with an oddly specific clause that his dad left in his inheritance. Leith is pretty sure he’s the only one who knows about it…until Clarke drunkenly spills that she knows, too, along with a bunch of other Wilkes family secrets.

Leith starts to wonder if there’s more to Clarke than she lets on…and if his dad has something to do with it. And if she is keeping secrets of her own, maybe she won’t mind helping him with his.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Random House for sending me an ARC of Free Falling by Lyla Sage, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Oh no. I just fell in love with another author's work.

My bank account is weeping. You better believe after finishing this book, I went out and bought Soul Searching (the first book in this series).

It was the perfect read for the season.

Cozy and heartwarming - but not cheesy.

Perfect for spooky season, but not too spooky. I still want my romance!

Those things, along with a well written story and lots of chemistry between our main characters, it made me an instant Lyla Sage fan.

There is just something about a small town setting that calls to me. Where everyone is in everyone's business, and everyone knows one another. It just adds layers to the history between the characters - especially characters who secretly crushed on each other their whole lives and neither one of them knew.

So when these two enter into a fake relationship, sparks fly.

I loved it. The banter. The chemistry. The yearning.

The spice.

Throw in ghosts and a badass twin sister, and we have a winner.

Free Falling was a fun, lighthearted read that was perfect for this time of year. I can't wait to explore Lyla Sage's other work. Free Falling releases to the public September 22nd, 2026. Just enough time to read Soul Searching if you haven't already!

Coming soon after release!
