Bound by Duty adapted by Reelshort Review

Before I begin, I would like to thank ReelShort for providing my credits to watch and review Bound by Honor and Bound by Duty - books by Cora Reilly that have been adapted to Reelshort - in exchange for a fair and honest review.

When I was approached to do these reviews, I was a little hesitant. Mostly because I've come across reels of these types of videos, and they didn't seem like something that would entertain me.

But Cora Reilly is one of my guilty pleasures, and I just had to see how Reelshort adapted her work.

And considering the material, they did okay.

They managed to tweak the most controversial part of Bound by Honor (specifically something that Luca is caught doing). As someone who hated that part of the book, I was happy, but I didn't love that they pushed the narrative of Luca pressuring or manipulating Aria into sex. And while she doesn't cave, it devalues what Luca does for her on their wedding night.

They cast Aria perfectly. The actress is beautiful, and honestly was able to portray a teenage girl perfectly. She struggles in the moments where she had inner thought monologues, but otherwise, was able to portray a pretty convincing Aria.

I had a hard time with the actor who played Luca. Luca is a serious character, and yet, he just came off as cheesy in this. He got better towards the end, specifically when in scenes with Aria, but otherwise, I just didn't feel like he portrayed the Luca I read.

Did I dislike it? No. I didn't love it, but it was fun to see this book adapted. If you love Cora Reilly's books, I suggest you check Reelshort's adaptions, and let me know what you think!
