Before I begin, I would like to thank Simon & Schuster for sending me an arc of A Forsaken Prophecy by Stacey McEwan in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I have followed Stacey McEwan for years now. I have always loved her hilarious takes on some of my favorite books. So when she announced she was going to write her own book, I was willing to give it a try, but I will not lie. I didn't have my hopes up for great writing.

Not because of her, but my past experiences when it comes to book influencers writing their own books, it hasn't been very good.

I never did pick up The Glacian Trilogy (her first books), but I definitely will now, because this series ... I loved it.

Honestly, I should have gave her more credit.

While I will be focusing on this book, A Forsaken Prophecy, before I do, I will say this about A Forbidden Alchemy (the first book in this series): Yes, I read it. Yes, I loved it. Yes, I was SO HAPPY I had an arc of A Forsaken Prophecy, and I had to wait to find out what happened.

I love the world Stacey built. The setting is gritty, and easy to imagine when reading. Nothing is outlandish. It's practical. The differences are in the class system of this world. Whereas magic makes life for the artisans easy, the Craftsmen are left to their own, very limited devices. While there is magic, and stories of the goddesses, Stacey keeps it all so contained that it doesn't feel fantastical. It feels like it could be real.

The world wasn't the only thing I loved about this book.

The characters.

Even the side characters had me hooked.

I adore Patrick and Nina. From the first chapter of the first book, their characters had me immediately interested. Stacey was able to establish from their first meeting a connection that transcended the years. The chemistry between them was palpable and I honestly couldn't get enough. But add in how much I ended up loving Patrick's family (except for one, but I won't get into that to prevent spoilers) and friends, it just made this book so much more for me.

A Forsaken Prophecy was just as amazing of a read as A Forbidden Alchemy was. I can't wait to see what Stacey has in store for us for the next (and last) book of the Trilogy.
