Twisted Bonds is the fourth book in Cora Reilly's Camorra Chronicles, and once again centers around Kiara and Nino. It cover their POV throughout Remo and Seraphina's book, and afterwards, while chronicling their difficulties in conceiving. During this time, Kiara's bond with each of the brother's grow, and in trying to help each brother find their own way of healing from the past, becomes a truly centric Falcone family member.
I'm kinda meh about this one. Let's start out with what I like. I like the characters. I like the growth they all go through. I love that Kiara becomes the caretaker for all the men, and gives them a sense of home. I love that in this journey of conception, it's brutally real. I'm like how their family grows. I'm glad that Nico and Remo get closure. I love that Nino admits to Kiara that his lack of emotions isn't just due to past trauam, but he was like that before, just not as bad, and while not officially tested, he believes he is on the spectrum. But I hated how predictable this book was. -------------------> I guessed that their mother was going to escape. And when she makes her move, it felt weird. I guessed that they would find a baby as soon as mewling sounds were mentioned in the dumpster. I guessed she would find out she was pregnant shortly after they adopt the baby. <----------------- It was just predictable.
If you want to read the series, you can't really skip this. It does have details and events that pop up in the next two books. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend. A little boring. But hey, I love Nino and Kiara together, and I didn't mind reading through their eyes again.
Kiara asking Remo if she thinks Nino would make a good father
Savio calling Greta doll face
The club, and the girls being hung over in the morning
Remo comforting Kiara when she breaks down after another negative test
Kiara's tattoo for Nino
Remo and Nino saving the baby, and Remo arranging it so that Nino and Kiara can adopt him
Nevio saying fuck LOL
Savio sauntered in, letting out a scoff.
Savio: “Okay, just to get this straight. I’m banned from any kind of fucking in the communal space of the mansion, but you’re getting it on in plain daylight on our kitchen counters?”
Kiara drew back, her cheeks turning pink.
Nino: “We were kissing,”
I said, not bothering to step back. Savio leaned against the counter, arms crossed.
Savio: “Looks like that won’t be the end of it. Hypocrite much?”
Kiara gently pushed against my chest, trying to make me step out from between her thighs, but I resisted.
Kiara: “Nino.”
Nino: “If you ever bring a girl you’re serious about, you can get it on like this, too,”
Savio smirked.
Savio: “I take my fucking very seriously, does that count?” Kiara: “I’m trying a recipe for red velvet cupcakes. I want to perfect them for Savio’s fight. I’m sure he’ll want a sweet treat after.”
Nino: “Savio usually treats himself to a whore or two.”
Kiara pursed her lips.
Kiara: “Well, maybe they’d like a cupcake too.” His eyes lingered on mine and he leaned forward, cupped my head and pressed a kiss to my temple.
Nino: “One day I’m going to kill every single person who made you feel less. They should pray that your kindness stops me long enough.” Remo: “Nino loves you. I don’t understand how it’s possible. I thought the part of him capable of that shit was lost but you dug it out. I don’t know what he can or cannot feel, but every child that grows up in this house will be cared for, will be safe and as fucking happy as it can be in our fucked-up world. And with you as a mother, it’ll drown in love and sweets, that’s for sure.” Nino: "I assume, given his talent reading people, he adapted his sexual advances according to her inexperience and put some effort into making it pleasant for her.” Nino pressed our foreheads together, and he swallowed.
Nino: “Sometimes I feel like my insides are a raging flood of emotions when I look at you, but I don’t mind drowning.” Savio scoffed.
Savio: “I get cookies and Adamo gets booty.”
I glanced between him and Adamo whose face was turning red.
Kiara: “What?”
Savio gestured at my backside.
Savio: “Adamo checked out your ass. He seems to enjoy the sight.”
Adamo: “I didn’t …”
Adamo glared at his brother then smiled apologetically at me.
Adamo: “I mean … I didn’t check out your ass … but it’s fine, your backside I mean …”
Savio cracked up.
Savio: “Oh, for fuck’s sake, shut up. You really need to grow a pair. Kiara knows she’s got a fine ass. I think we can all agree on that.”
Nino: “I’m glad my wife’s behind meets your requirements,”
Nino drawled from the doorway, arms crossed and a smirk on his face. Savio: “No reprimand for using fuck you in front of your precious offspring?”
Remo stroked Greta’s arm.
Remo: “Growing up in this house, my kids will probably say fuck before anything else.”
Savio: “Or I could try to teach them a more interesting word …”
Savio mused, exchanging a look with Adamo who shook his head with a small laugh.
Remo: “If one of my children says pussy, dick or cock as their first word, I’ll send you to Kansas City to help Stefano get his people under control, got it?”
Savio: “They could pick it up from someone else.”
Remo raised his eyebrows and Savio smirked.
Remo; “Kansas City, Savio."
Savio: "There’s really no fun to be had in this house anymore.” Nino: “How do you feel?”
Kiara: “Horrible.”
Nino watched me a moment longer.
Nino: “Cause and effect.”
Nino: “I really love you but that’s making me want to hit you with a spoon.” Remo took a sip from my drink, then swirled it in the glass.
Kiara: “That was mine.”
Remo: “You left it standing there. It’s a limited edition Don Papa rum that costs a fortune. I’m not leaving it there so Adamo can desecrate it into a fucking Cuba Libre.” Remo: “Life’s fucking unfair. It wants to crush you, but you can’t let the bitch win. You’ve got to force her to play by your rules.” Kiara: “Thank you,. You are how I wish my brothers could have been. I don’t care what people say about you, I love you like a brother.” Nino: “I broke your jaw. I hope you can scream anyway.”
He gripped the man’s fingers and jerked them back, causing him to cry hoarsely.
Nino: “Not the best screams I’ve heard, but they’ll do. Later.”
