I would like to thank Blue Box Press for sending me an arc of The Marriage Auction: Season One, Volume One, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

When I was browsing the few releases for the month of January, to see if anything caught my eye, I was immediately lured into The Marriage Auction. The whole idea of auctioning yourself off for marriage was different from anything I've read before, and the synopsis drew me in farther .. enough to apply for the ARC at least. When I received it, I was excited to jump in ... and that excitement paid off.

Before I really get into volume one, one thing I really appreciated was the author starting out her book with an entire page of trigger warnings. Literally, every trigger that could come up in this book, was listed. It's not something I expect every author to do, but to say I appreciated the time and care for that one step alone would be an understatement.

The Marriage Auction's whole premise is unique, which I enjoy. A mutually beneficial marriage, where each person is getting something out of it. The rules and expectations are clear before going in. You are given multiple chances to leave. It's all consensual. It's just all around an immediately entertaining concept. But then Audrey goes ahead and adds some great characters to the mix, and instantly, I'm enthralled. I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. I was reading at work! I was just so genuinely interested in these characters that I had to know what was next. One would think that going into a book that has ten different perspectives (yes, ten!) would get quickly confusing, but it isn't. All the characters have very different personalities, different reasons for doing what they are doing, and it translates through the writing. Their different accents - especially the southern accents - even come through in the writing. Often times in other books I have to remind myself what accent a person has, but in The Marriage Auction, it just flowed.

The magic that is this book, is that it's impossible to get bored. Each couple has unique roadblocks, and situations. Each person has their own reason for participating in the auction. With each chapter bouncing between different characters and couples, and all these different tropes, you can't help but be drawn in and be thoroughly entertained.

Needless to say, The Marriage Auction: Season One, Volume One was a hit for me. It was fun, sweet, entertaining, funny, and sometimes sad - it was a ride for sure, and I didn't hesitate to preorder the next three volumes of this series.

The Marriage Auction: Season One, Volume One, Volume Two, Volume Three and Volume Four, come out January 24th, 2022. Pre-order at the links below.
