Top 10 Most Romantic Reads of 2020

Updated: Jan 24, 2021

Once upon a time, there was a thirty-something year old woman who claimed she hated romance ... until one day she decided to give it a try. From that day on, she became obsessed. The end? Never! Below are my top ten picks of my most romantic reads of the year.

10 - (Romantic) to 1 (Head over heels in love)

10. Onyx (LUX Series) by Jennifer L Armentrout

It seems odd that this is the book I would pick from this series to be the most romantic, seeing as the couple in question were not even together for 99% of the book, but some of the most romantic moments happened in this book. Daemon bringing Thanksgiving dinner over to Katy when she was alone for the holiday, and decorating a Christmas tree with her is probably one of my favorite Katy and Daemon moments. <3

9. An Ex For Christmas by Lauren Layne

An Ex for Christmas is all kinds of romance that you can't help but feel all warm and squishy inside after reading. Stereotypical for the trope? Most definitely. Putting that aside, Mark making her favorite treats that take forever to make, just so she could have some, and that ending?!?! It's like the cheesiest romance that you like in a Hallmark movie, but with the dirty stuff that those movies DESPERATELY need.

8. Wait for You by Jennifer L Armentrout

Cam is like ... the ultimate boyfriend when it comes to romance. His patience and determination are romantic enough, but add in the fact that he bakes? Bake me a plate of chocolate chip cookies, and I'm yours.

7. Be With Me by Jennifer L Armentrout

Brothers best friend, a sister with a protective brother, both harbouring a secret attraction for one another? This book has lots of romance ... and I am pretty sure Jennifer Armentrout just made cupcakes romantic. Just saying.

6. Stay With Me by Jennifer L Armentrout

A young woman insecure about her physical scars from a tramatic event in her childhood, and a retired soldier who bought her mom's bar come together in this romantic tale that proves that love can happen in the most unexpected way.

5. Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

A witch in hiding and a witch hunter are forced together by circumstances beyond their control. Does her wild personality rub off on the uptight hunter? Does it lead to one hell of an explosive relationship? Hell yeah it does!

4. Irresistibly Yours by Lauren Layne

Two brilliant sports writers. One coveted position at Oxford magazine. When Cole and Penelope end up sharing the position, they end up striking a wonderful friendship, and along the way, discovering that their chemistry is off the charts.

3. Someone Like You by Lauren Layne

Doesn't matter how many times I read this book, it destroys me every time. Relationship expert Lincoln at Oxford magazine has a secret: he is committed to his fiancé, who is in a permanent vegetive state after a car accident a couple of years before. Until he meets Daisy, a divorcee who is struggling with her own trauma after a dangerous marriage. Feeling a connection with one another, they decide to be friends ... but all of that comes crashing down when their feelings grow for one another, and guilt sets in,

2. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas

What can I say that won't spoil the romance?

Freedom. Support. Tenderness. Friendship. Mates finding one another, and accepting one another.

This book is crazy romantic with the steam we all love.

1. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L Armentrout

Read A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire and try to tell me it isn't the most romantic ... no ... THE BEST book ever written.

Try.

I dare you.

Poppy and Cas's relationship is so deeply layered, and intriguing. Their chemistry with one another can't be beat. If you haven't read this amazing, ongoing series, pick up From Blood and Ash first. I promise you won't regret it.
